A few months ago I rewatched the 1993 cult classic True Romance. Written by Quentin Tarantino and directed by Tony Scott, Romance centers on a young Detroit man named Clarence (Christian Slater) who starts a wild relationship with a call girl (Patricia Arquette). There’s a road trip to Los Angeles. A crazy Hollywood shootout. Some bloody good violence with a corkscrew. Elvis Presley. A dreadlocked white gang banger who thinks he’s black. A thug character who talks about his love of eating ass. And the late great Dennis Hopper going on a racist sililoquy about Sicilian history to bait a mob boss into blowing his head off.
In other words, your basic Tarantino film. Beautiful stuff.
